Electrical Engineer SLD (Single-Line Diagram) vacancy in Pretoria West. Key responsibilities include designing, testing, running simulations, writing specifications, and supporting the production of power conversion equipment (DC-AC and AC-AC) and power conversion solutions. In-depth knowledge of solar, industrial PCS, grid code compliance, site reticulation, and microgrid is required. A BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering is required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Electrical Engineer SLD (Single-Line Diagram)
Pretoria West

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • BEng/MEng in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering (preferably LV/MV systems).
  • Experience with solar PV, commercial inverters, microgrids, and grid code compliance in both LV and MV situations.
Technical Skills: 
  • Proficiency in simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink)
  • CAD software for schematic design
  • Understand protection equipment
  • Reticulation design and familiarity with power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design & Development: Conceptualize and design power electronics circuits, including inverter topologies, magnetic components, SLD’s for products.
  • Testing & Validation: Write and perform hands-on testing of prototypes. Understanding of inverter safety standards is a plus.
  • Production Support: Optimize manufacturing processes following quality standards (e.g., ISO9001).
  • Component Evaluation: Evaluate and select components for efficiency, cost-saving, and obsolescence management.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain schematics, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical reports.
