Key Responsibilities:
• Review and evaluate substation and high-voltage generation tie-line design packages for renewable energy projects (solar and BESS).
• Address comments and recommendations provided by third-party Owner's Engineers.
• Respond to RFIs from substation and tie-line contractors.
• Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle,from design through construction and energization.
• Review equipment submittals and commissioning documentation.
• Coordinate with internal departments including Business Development, Project Management, Construction, Supply Chain, Real Estate, and Operations.
• Conduct occasional day trips to project sites across Virginia to resolve field engineering issues.
Required Qualifications:
• 2-5 + years of engineering experience in a relevant field
• Solid understanding of substation design principles and electrical engineering theories
• Familiarity with power system modeling and high-voltage electrical systems
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Analytical problem-solving ability and decision-making confidence
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
• Proven ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
• Effective both independently and in team-based environments
Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of PJM and NERC policies and standards
• Experience with electrical design software such as ETAP or PSSE
• Familiarity with relays, control systems, and transmission line engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or North Carolina (preferred, not required)
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required
Other Requirements:
• Must be able to operate a Dominion Energy or client-provided vehicle (valid driver's license required)
• No unescorted nuclear access required
