Job Title: EMC & Product Safety Engineer
Location: Princeton, NJ
Employment Type: Contract with High Possibility of Conversion to Full-Time
Industry: Medical Device (Electro-Mechanical Systems)
Position Summary:
• Electrical Engineer with R&D experience in electro-mechanical medical devices
• Focus on EMC compliance, analog/digital circuit design, and regulatory product safety testing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet IEC, EN, UL, and CSA standards
• Involved in verification, validation, and regulatory documentation
• Opportunity to contribute to innovative healthcare technologies
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead feasibility, prototyping, and system-level integration of devices
• Design and analyze mixed-signal analog/digital circuits
• Develop EMC test plans and reports (IEC/EN 61326-1/-2-6 standards)
• Perform EMC/safety assessments and propose solutions for design changes
• Conduct product safety testing (UL/CSA/IEC 61010, 60950, 62368-1)
• Setup and maintain EMC/safety test equipment and procedures
• Troubleshoot EMC issues and support compliance reviews
• Execute verification/validation protocols and CAPA documentation
• Interface with certifying agencies (UL, CE, CB Scheme)
• Maintain quality systems in FDA and IVD-regulated environments
• Participate in software/equipment validation
• Travel up to 5% for training or project support
Skills & Attributes:
• Strong understanding of EMC testing and safety compliance
• Proficient with PCB CAD/layout tools: ORCAD Capture, PADS, PSpice
• Hands-on with lab and compliance testing equipment
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive problem solver
• Effective collaborator across multidisciplinary teams
• Familiar with FDA-regulated environments and IVD standards (plus)
Education & Experience:
Required:
• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field (or 2 years tech education + 2 years hands-on experience)
• 5–8 years of relevant technical experience in circuit design, EMC, and product testing
• Preferred:
• Degree in Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or Physics
• Experience with medical device development and regulatory compliance
