Associate Electrical Engineer
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Associate Electrical Engineer to join a well-established and growing Building Services consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors.
This role would suit either an existing Associate Electrical Engineer or an experienced Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer looking to take the next step into a leadership position.
You'll play a key role in leading electrical engineering projects, managing client relationships, mentoring engineers and helping to drive the continued growth of the business.
The Role
As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for providing technical leadership across a wide variety of projects while supporting the development of both people and the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the electrical engineering team on multidisciplinary building services projects.
- Developing electrical design strategies from concept through to completion.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Managing project delivery to ensure programmes, budgets and quality standards are achieved.
- Coordinating closely with Mechanical Engineering colleagues to deliver integrated MEP solutions.
- Undertaking technical reviews and ensuring engineering excellence throughout the design process.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Attending client, design and site meetings as the lead electrical representative.
- Supporting business development by identifying opportunities for repeat and new work.
- Maintaining quality assurance procedures and promoting best practice throughout the business.
- Championing sustainable engineering and low-carbon design principles.
About You
You'll already be operating at a senior level within Building Services Engineering and be confident leading both projects and engineering teams.
You'll ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer status or be actively working towards Chartership.
- Extensive experience delivering electrical building services projects.
- Strong project management and commercial awareness.
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive and collaborative leadership style.
- A passion for mentoring and developing engineers.
Technical Experience
Experience with a range of industry-standard design software is highly desirable, including:
- Amtech / Hevacomp
- Dialux / Relux
- Microsoft Office
- CAD software
- Building Services design packages
Experience with BIM, modelling software, renewable energy technologies or low-carbon design would also be advantageous.
