Job Summary
The University of Portland located in Portland, Oregon, USA invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in the Shiley School of Engineering to begin January 4, 2027 or August 15, 2027. The University of Portland is a primarily undergraduate institution comprising four professional schools and the College of Arts and Sciences ( CAS ), which houses our strong liberal arts Core Curriculum, required of all students. The University Core provides students in all disciplines a unifying set of experiences and promotes engagement with the Six Core Habits of Heart and Mind , which include “Global & Historical Consciousness” and “Diversity & the Common Good.” The Shiley School of Engineering ( SSOE ) prepares engineers and computer scientists to solve technical problems that affect society. The Shiley School offers undergraduate degrees in civil and environmental, electrical, and mechanical engineering, as well as computer science. Coursework and projects emphasize experiential learning, teamwork, experimentation, and innovation integrated with theory, analysis, and design to prepare students to become technological leaders in the 21st century. Tenure-track faculty are responsible for maintaining teaching obligations, participation in student advising, service on committees in the School as well as the greater University, involvement in professional associations, and public service. All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a habit of scholarship, which requires dissemination within their discipline in various venues.
