Join the team as an ASIC Physical Design Engineer Intern at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Our internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks during the summer. By applying to this position, you will be considered for all locations across the United States.

As a member of the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team, your responsibilities will include:
• Performing physical design for Amazon's custom silicon solutions for machine learning.
• Engaging in all aspects of physical design: full chip floorplanning, circuit analysis, power/clock distribution, timing optimization, place and route, power integrity analysis, and physical verification.
• Writing Tcl or PERL scripts to enhance physical design flows and methods.
• Collaborating with RTL and DFT designers to ensure high-quality design implementations.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Graduation date between May 2023 and December 2025.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
• Strong understanding of VLSI circuit design fundamentals.
• Completion of one or more VLSI design and implementation courses.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Previous technical internship experience.
• Experience with FinFET design, clock/power distribution, and Spice circuit analysis.
• Experience with place and route and digital implementation.
• Familiarity with EDA tools from Synopsys (ICC2, DC, PT), Cadence (Genus, Innovus, Voltus).
• Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog.

The base pay for this position ranges from $104,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $212,200/year in our highest. Factors influencing pay include job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
