About the position

Thales Defense & Security, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Summer Intern for the summer of 2025. This internship will last for 8 weeks and is located in Clarksburg, MD. The intern will work under the supervision of the Manager of the Electrical Engineering department and will be responsible for various entry-level assignments that provide exposure to the electrical engineering job family. The intern will have the opportunity to work directly with a mentor in the Electrical Hardware design field, performing technical assignments that involve a basic degree of complexity. This role is designed to help the intern gain practical experience in the field of electrical engineering, contributing to real-world projects and solutions. The intern will provide technical support to engineers and scientific staff in design and development projects, assisting in finding solutions to engineering challenges. Responsibilities will include participating in hardware designs in the assigned area, utilizing standard software packages common in the Electrical Hardware Design discipline, and gathering and analyzing data to support engineering research. The intern will also document and communicate the results of technical data generated, share technical information, and promote open dialogue within the team. Additionally, the intern will attend relevant seminars, facility tours, and interact with other students to enhance their learning experience. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the team and projects.

Responsibilities
• Work directly with a mentor in the Electrical Hardware design field to perform technical assignments.

• Provide technical support to engineers and scientific staff in design and development projects.

• Participate in hardware designs in the assigned area under close supervision.

• Utilize standard software packages common in the Electrical Hardware Design discipline to complete basic tasks.

• Gather and analyze data or information in support of engineering research.

• Document and communicate results of technical data generated.

• Share technical information and promote open dialogue within the team.

• Attend relevant seminars and facility tours, and interact with other students.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
• Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college and have completed at least 2 semesters within Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science fields.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Proficient in English both verbal and written.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for access to classified information.
