About the position
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation Engineering Intern to join our team as part of the Power Division. This internship is designed for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, specifically those who are in their Junior, Senior, or Master's year. The intern will have the opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients in various sectors including wind, solar, battery storage, EV, and power delivery. The Substation Engineering Intern will be involved in a variety of technical tasks, including preparing preliminary analyses, conducting project research, and performing fieldwork and observations. The intern will also engage in preliminary design calculations and will be responsible for ensuring the quality of their work. Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation is essential, as the intern will use these tools to prepare and check working drawings, details, layouts, and estimates. Additionally, the intern will perform routine analyses to verify the accuracy of data and work products, contributing to the overall success of the projects undertaken by the firm. This internship offers a competitive salary range of $15.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on applicable experience. It provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the engineering field, develop their skills, and learn from industry professionals in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
• Prepares preliminary analysis on a variety of technical tasks

Requirements
• Electrical Engineering major (Junior, Senior, or Master's student)

• Demonstrates willingness to accept new challenges and learn specialized field

• Growing knowledge of profession as demonstrated by involvement in related professional organizations and professional development programs

• Basic knowledge of the firm's policies, practices and procedures

• Basic knowledge of software required for position

• Good organizational skills
